People were surprised to see a police officer helping a young girl with her homework.

Molly Draper of Marion, Ohio, said that her 10-year-old daughter, Lena, asked police for help with her math questions after running into difficulties.

42-year-old B.J. Gruber, who is a lieutenant at the Marion Police Department, said that this was the first time they received a request for help with homework.

Gruber did not see the girlโ€™s questioning as odd, and he helped the girl. Lena wanted to know how to calculate (8+29) x 15.

After Gruber gave her clear instructions how to get the answer to her math question, Lena asked how to get the answer for (90+27) + (29+15) x 2.

Gruber again clearly explain the process to the delighted girl.

When Draper saw the exchange between her daughter and the police department, she shared the messages on Facebook, where they went viral.

โ€œMy daughter. Cause. She’s my daughter. Thank you, Marion, Ohio, Police Department, for truly building relationships with the community,โ€ Draper rote on Facebook.
