A man was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly shooting a teenage boy in the street for bumping into him, according to police in West Virginia.

Charleston police said that they have arrested 62-year-old William Ronald Pulliam, after being accused of shooting 15-year-old James Harvey Means, following an altercation outside a store.

Pulliam was charged with one count of murder. The FBI is looking into whether to charge Pulliam with a hate crime as he is white while the boy was black.

He was booked into the South Central Regional Jail, and he was denied bail. According to the police investigation, as Pulliam was entering the Dollar General store, he and the boy bumped into each other.

After exchanging words, the boy left the scene while Pulliam when into the Dollar General store. When Pulliam came out of the store, he saw Means on a porch with his friends.

The two exchanged words again, and when Means approached Pulliam. The suspect pulled out a gun and shot the boy twice in the abdomen.

Means died as a result of the injuries. During questioning, Pulliam told police that the way he is looking at it, he just took another piece of trash off the street.
