A Bicycle company in the Netherlands, that takes great pride in their products, revealed their secret on how to get the items to customers without damage.
VanMoof, a Dutch bicycle manufacturer, said that they were very frustrated with the high amount of returns due to bicycles being broken during shipping.
They finally came up with an ingenious way of making sure that its products are handled with care and they arrive to their customers without any damages.
The company printed photos of flat screen televisions on their boxes instead of bicycles.
โJust like that, shipping damage to our bikes dropped by 80 percent,โ the company said in a Tweet.
CEO Ties Carlier said that they had tried putting โfragileโ labels, but that did not work, the bicycles were arrived crushed and broken to their customers and that was unacceptable.
Carlier knows that now that their secret is out, the tactic of printing televisions on boxes containing bicycles could get so popular that shipping companies will eventually catch on and stop being as careful.
โEven if they do, we hope they will still treat the bikes more carefully by realizing the lengths we go to for them to get to customers safely,โ he said.
VanMoof is known for its innovations. They released SmartBikes, which the company can track in the event that it is lost or stolen.
Carlier said that all of their SmartBikes also come with a two-year โPeace of Mind Guarantee,โ in which the company will replace the bike for free if it is found within two weeks.
