Target was ordered to pay a woman $4.6 million after they turned down a $12,000 settlement.

The woman of South Carolina, has been awarded millions of dollars from Target, after she was pricked by a needle that was found in the parking lot.

Carla Denise Garrison of Anderson, was in a parking lot when her 8-year-old daughter Kaileigh, picked up a hypodermic needle.

When Garrison attempted to get her daughter to drop the needle, the child accidentally caused the needle to prick her motherโ€™s hand.

The needle allegedly got stuck in the palm of Garrisonโ€™s hand.

Garrison was prescribed medication to keep her from contracting HIV. The side effects made her feel sick and left her bedridden, according to court documents.

Her husband Clint, took time off of work to take care of his wife and child, her attorney said.

The jury awarded the couple money for her pain and suffering as well as compensation for the husbandโ€™s lost wages.

Garrison was tested for HIV and hepatitis and the results came back negative.

Erika Winkels, who is a spokesperson for Target, said that they are now considering an appeal.
