Wendy Williams misses ‘real models’ at Fashion Weak

It’s no wonder the 5-foot-11 hostess with the mostest Wendy Williams sympathizes with models who are being put out of work by reality TV stars during Fashion Week.

“I think it’s terrible,” said Williams, who edited Friday’s Confidenti@l section. “It’s terrible for the modeling industry. It’s great for everyone else… back in the day models were real models.”

Williams coined the term “nepotised” to explain the modeling careers of Ireland Baldwin (Alec’s kid), Hailey Baldwin (Stephen’s offspring), Sean Penn’s daughter Dylan Penn and others like them.

“The girl from the ‘Kardashians,’ I forget her name,” said Williams, referring to Kendall Jenner. “These people are becoming models and it’s sad for models, but oh, well, you have to get in where you fit in, in this world.”

Williams, whose afternoon talk show returns to Fox on Sept. 19, said Fashion Week isn’t the only thing manufactured celebrities have ruined.

“There are a lot of things that make New York great that aren’t special anymore, like the Met Gala,” she lamented. “When you have Tyga at the Met Gala, you know it’s not something special.”

Williams isn’t sure of whether she’ll be attending any catwalk shows before Fashion Week rolls out of New York next week and heads to London.

“I don’t think that Fashion Week is especially special,” she said. “Now, designers make their showrooms available so you can go to the showroom or you can look online and look at the images and order what you like.”

Williams, who lost 50 pounds to celebrate her 50th birthday in 2014, says despite the proliferation of fake models taking over once glamorous events, it’s still upsetting that thin is what’s in.

“Butts are big right now and girls are cutting off their right arm to use the money to buy a butt, but at the end of the day, there is certainly an ideal and it’s just not a thicker woman and it’s messed up,” she said.

Williams does admit there is a certain magic behind a good runway show.

“I have to say, when you get in there and you’re sitting, it’s really very glamorous,” she confessed. “I have a short attention span, (so) 15 minutes to watch clothes is perfect.”
