Tim Gunn doesn’t understand why Kanye West’s fashion line is famous.
The “Project Runway” host and noted fashion guru took a shot at West’s Yeezy line, calling it “a hoax.”
Yeezy Season 4 debuted during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 7 in a seemingly disastrous show on Roosevelt Island complete with faulty footwear and models overcome with heat exhaustion.
Gunn, 63, told Access Hollywood on Tuesday that Ye’s minimalist clothes were both “dumb” and “basic.”
“I’m totally perplexed about why the fashion industry has not looked at these, frankly, dumb, basic clothes and cried ‘hoax,'” he said.
“Kanye West is a sphinx without a riddle. I just don’t understand why people are so in awe. [The models in the show were] basically wearing stretch undergarments.”
The chief creative officer at Liz Claiborne had even more choice words for the rapper-turned-designer.
“I think the only thing dumber than these clothes would be the people who would buy these clothes,” Gunn added.
The opinionated jab wasn’t the first that the fashion guru decided to direct at the “Famous” singer.
Last year, he also slammed West’s fashion designs for being expensive and dumb during an interview with the Huffington Post.
The “Gold Digger” artist’s designs sell for whopping prices starting at a “low end” of $200 and going up to $3,000.
Gunn even brought Kanye’s wife and her family into the mix, saying, “I don’t care what you wear as long as you don’t dress like a Kardashian. It’s vulgar, period.”
