A woman was horrified to be coerced into giving a man money or have compromising photos of her published to the Internet.
The woman said that she stopped to use the bathroom of a gas station in Bangkok, Thailand.
When she returned to her car, she found two notes wedged in the driver’s side door handle.
The first note informed the woman that she was recorded while using the bathroom, and the other note warned her that the photos and videos of her relieving herself will be posted to the Internet unless she handed over money.
“I used bluetooth, and now I have a lovely picture of you doing your business just now,” read one note.
“Call me, I have both still pictures and a video, you are lovely,” he wrote on the second note along with his phone number.
When she called the number, the man demanded THB3,000 ($85) if she did not want him to post the photos and video to the Internet.
She immediately went to the police station. Officers directed the woman to set up a meeting with her blackmailer so that they can catch him.
The man called the woman a few times to change the location in a possible attempt to keep police away before settling on the parking lot of Home Pro on Praditmanutham Road.
Once the woman met the man, police quickly arrested him.
Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Pichet Singthong, who works as a taxi driver.
Singthong confessed that he was trying to extort money from the victim, but he told police that he did not actually take photos or videos of her in the bathroom.
He was charged with attempted extortion.
