A female firefighter and her colleagues were ordered to go to a railway station to help a man who had a ring stuck on his finger and needed help to remove it.

When the woman arrived to the Birmingham New Street station in England, she was approached by her boyfriend, who got down on one knee and proposed to her.

This was no random act as it was all planned out by 33-year-old Mark Edwards and the his fianceeโ€™s bosses of West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS).

Edwards came up with the plan and asked her bosses to send Jodi Vincent, 35, on a fake call while she was on duty, and they agreed.

Vincent, who has been a firefighter for 11 years, was delighted by the proposal. A video of the proposal was uploaded to social media by the West Midlands Fire Service, who congratulated the couple after she said โ€œyes.โ€

While many people were happy for the couple, some people complained that it was a waste of resources and taxpayers money.
