An 18-year-old Australian teen who escaped a Sydney police station holding cell was recaptured by cops after she reached out to a TV station to ask them to use a more flattering photo of her.
Amy Sharp had fled the Surry Hills Corrective Services Comples on Friday afternoon and was last spotted running down a street near the police station, according to 7 News Sydney.
She was considered to be a โlow riskโ to the community and had been arrested for โproperty offenses,โ the station wrote in a media advisory about her escape, along with mug shots Sharp apparently disapproved of.
She appeared glum looking and had a pink blanket flung around her shoulders in the police photos.
The first commenter to the story posted to the TV stationโs Facebook page was none other than Sharp herself who suggested an alternative photo of her.
โCan you use this photo, please and thank you,โ Sharp wrote on the TV stationโs Facebook page along with a more polished picture of herself. โYours Truly, Amy Sharp xx.โ
Cops were able to re-arrest Sharp in Sydneyโs Wentworth Park, not far from where she escaped, Sydney Morning Herald reported.
