A 23-year-old Texas man beheaded his wife and put her head in a freezer before barricading himself inside a trailer home with their kids, police said.
Officers in Bellmead, outside Waco, arrested blood-covered David Dauzat after a brief standoff at the mobile home park Thursday.
Dauzat is charged with killing his 21-year-old wife Natasha, and child welfare officials assumed custody of their children, ages 1 and 2. The children were apparently unharmed Thursday.
Natasha Dauzatโs mother Patricia Tagliarino said her daughter had a black eye two months ago that she blamed on a head-butt from her baby. The young mother loved her two children with all her heart, Tagliarino said.
Both David and Natasha Dauzat posted photos of their children on their Facebook pages, and David Dauzatโs page showed an album titled โOur familyโs happy Christmasโ on Dec. 25. Natasha Dauzatโs page also mentioned how happy of a family they had been.
โI’m the happiest girl ever with an amazing Husband and kids and I love them xoxoxoxo,โ she wrote.
Investigators were working Friday to find a motive for the slaying, a Bellmead police spokesman told People magazine. Dauzat confessed to officers he had killed his wife as he was being handcuffed at the Concord Rd. trailer park, according to police.
He was incarcerated in the McLennan County jail on a $500,000 bond, records showed.
