A young boy was arrested on a charge of robbery after pushing a 12-year-old boy off his bike and driving away with it.
Police in Washington D.C., responded to a call of a stolen bike.
When they arrived, the victim’s mother, 52, told officer that her son
was riding his bike when a younger boy pushed him off and stole it.
She explained that her son tried to run after the boy, but couldn’t catch him. The incident took place at about 5:30 p.m.
Police posted a description of the suspect to social media. They
described the boy as a 9 year old with no shirt, blue basketball shorts,
brown hair and he is likely riding an orange bike.
Police soon received tips and they found the boy. He was arrested and the bike was returned to the victim.
The victim’s mother said that her son received the bike from his father, who does not live with them, two years ago.
However, the bike broke almost immediately and needed to be repaired so it was unused for the entire time.
It took two years for his father to finally find someone who was willing to repair it for free.
When the boy got his bike back and took it out for a ride, the
9-year-old boy came up and asked to use it. When the 12-year-old said
“no,” the young boy pushed him off and stole it.
The 9-year-old boy was charged with robbery by force and violence and was handed over to authorities who handle juvenile cases.
