Nigeria new ambassador to Cote D’Ivoire wants Nigeria-Cote D’Ivoire commission revived

Nigeria’s new ambassador to Cote D’Ivoire, Ibrahim Isah has called for the revival of the commission set up by the two countries four years ago.

The commission was established 1 August 2013.

Isah made the call when he presented his letters of credence to President Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan on Friday.

The ambassador said he would work to deepen the collaboration between the countries.

“I will exert efforts to expand and deepen trade relations, friendship and mutually-beneficial cooperation, work to realizing and bringing Nigeria-Cote d’Ivoire relations to a new height,” he told President Ouattara.

“I am confident that with concerted efforts of the two sides, the long-term constructive and cooperative Nigeria-Cote d’Ivoire is bound to scale new heights”, he added.

Ambassador Isah also traced six decades of of relations between Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire.

“The two countries have since their independence nearly six decades ago, maintained a strategic relationship. It is a known fact that a large number of Nigerians are resident in Cote d’Ivoire and I promise to nurture profoundly, the friendship between our two countries,” Isah said.

“As the two largest economies in West Africa, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire are faced with common mission of developing economy and improving the people’s living standards, support each other in the fight against terrorism and pursue mutually beneficial cooperation between our two friendly countries.”
