The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has charged Nigerian youths to shun Internet frauds and other criminal tendencies that may jeopardize their future.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by students of St. Joseph Secondary School, Agege, Lagos on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, the Lagos Zonal Head of the Commission, Akaninyene  Ezima, said the ongoing anti-graft war should not be seen as the sole responsibility of the Commission.

Ezima,  who received the students on behalf of the Acting Executive Chairman of EFCC,  Ibrahim Magu,  added: โ€œYou also have a role to play in the fight against corruption. You are not too young to also take ownership of the fight against corruption.

โ€œThe Acting Executive Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has never trivialized the roles of Nigerian youths, including secondary school students, in the fight against corruption.โ€

During the interractive section, Muktar Bello,  Head, Cyber Crimes, and John Sendere,  Head, Forensic Accounting and Financial Investigations, FAFI, spoke to the students on how Internet fraudsters had been duping unsuspecting victims.

In her remark, Onome Eselbaewo, a Senior Secondary School (SSS) student 1 of the school, thanked the Commission for welcoming her and her mates to the Commissionโ€™s Lagos office, saying, โ€œWe appreciate the opportunity the  EFCC granted us today.

โ€œHaving learnt so many things here today, we will do our best to be great leaders of tomorrow.โ€

The coordinator of the visiting students,  Ikechuckwu  Achilef u, also thanked Magu for his doggedness  to constantly take on the corrupt members of the society โ€œin a bid to make the country a better place for us to live in.

โ€œThe purpose of the visit is to get the students to be familiarized with the workings of the EFCC and how it fights corruption in Nigeria.โ€

The students were later taken on tour around the EFCC facilities at both the Ikoyi and Okotie Eboh areas of Lagos by Dolapo Adeniran, a staff in the Public Affairs Directorate, PAD, Lagos.
