Dickson alleges military invasion of Bayelsa State communities

Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has alleged that  soldiers  invaded some communities in the state to help the All Progressives Congress rig Saturday’s House of Assembly poll.


According to him, the soldiers terrorised innocent persons, particularly members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the communities  as they allegedly manipulated   the electoral process in favour of the APC.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Relations, Fidelis Soriwei, on Sunday, said  Dickson spoke on a  live programme on Radio Bayelsa.

The governor warned the soldiers that their action could lead to a  peaceful protest against military invasion of the state.

He alleged that soldiers were used by some politicians  to snatch  ballot boxes  in  Kolo, Imiringi, Otuasega, Otuokpoti and  Ayama in Ogbia, as well  as in  Nembe Bassambiri, Peremabiri in Southern Ijaw.

He also claimed soldiers snatched ballot boxes in  Kolokumma Okpokuma and  Agbere in Sagbama.


Meanwhile, APC’s   Timi  Agasa polled 10, 958 votes  to win the  Brass Constituency 2 election  while  his  PDP  rival  Esau Andrew  came second with 6,833 votes.

Abraham Ngobere of the PDP  won the  Brass Constituency 3 poll.

The  Brass Constituency 1 election  was  declared inconclusive  by the Independent National Electoral Commission on the grounds that voting did not take place  in Ward 1 and 2.

The  PDP polled 8,978 votes to win the In the Southern Ijaw Constituency 2 election, with  the APC scoring  491.


The PDP won  the Yenagoa Constituency 2  poll with 6,346 votes.

In Nembe Constituency 1, Ololo Ben of the PDP won the poll with 14, 941 votes. APC’s  Derri Omiediekumo scored 1, 675 votes.

APC’s  Edward Irigha polled 8, 167 votes to win the Nembe Constituency 2 poll. PDP’s  Ingolwowari Gold  got 401 votes.
