Travellers were feared kidnapped yesterday on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway by gunmen who allegedly ambushed passenger vehicles.
The Kaduna Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Jalige could not be reached for confirmation.
But sources said the gunmen shot at some passengers during the attack.
A source in Rijana told newsmen that the incident happed around 4:30pm.
The source said many empty vehicles were seen on either sides of the road, signifying that the occupants were either abducted or had fled into the bush.
He, however, said the security agents arrived at the scene few minutes after the attack.
The source said: “The incident happened 4:30pm. They shot sporadically at vehicles and that forced the vehicles to stop.
“When they forced the vehicles to stop, they then picked the passengers and immediately whisked them away and abandoned those that sustained gunshot injuries.”
A video showing some abandoned vehicles by the road side went viral on the social media yesterday.
