Suspected cultists on Monday night went on rampage around the Jakande, Osopa London and Agungi areas of Lekki, robbing motorists and vandalising vehicles.
The latest incident has brought to three, the attacks against innocent residents in the past few weeks by hoodlums who take advantage of cult clashes to wreak havoc.
It was gathered that the latest incident suspected to be renewed war between Aiye and Eiye cultists, started on Sunday night around Jakande.
Residents said the violence soon escalated to other places leading to the attack on road users on Monday night by the hoodlums alleged to have used cutlasses, guns and bottles freely.
The violence, which forced people to scamper to safety, saw many around the neighbourhoods syndicating messages on social media into commuters to avoid the area.
It was gathered that the hoodlums shattered windscreens of people’s vehicles, threw bottles into commercial buses and were hitting road users with their cutlasses.
According to David Olubaji, the situation was scary and felt like a zombie apocalypse.
“I was scared shitless! Then, I got to Agungi and I saw more boys with sticks and cutlass on my road.
“These boys were attacking all the vehicles. They threw a bottle at the vehicle I was in. I cannot imagine what they would have done to those danfo buses with no doors and their passengers,” he said.
A Twitter user @raezywinston while advising people to keep off the route said the hoodlums blocked part of the highway and were robbing, attacking people.
He lamented that the police were not doing enough to contain such ugly incidents.
He said: “Police and SARS are harassing innocent and unarmed people every day but there are steady rival cult clashes in many parts of Lagos and nothing is ever done!
“Innocent people get caught in the crossfire. We just survive one and continue life. How much worse could it get?”
But the police assured that calm has returned in the area, adding that at least 10 suspects were arrested.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Operations Mohammed Ali said reinforcement has been deployed to the area to prevent recurrence.
He said those arrested would be charged to court, assuring residents of their safety and security.
