The Federal Government on Wednesday temporarily lifted the ban on two humanitarian organisations operating in the north east, Mercy Corps and Action Against Hunger.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, broke the news at a briefing Wednesday in Abuja.

The Nigeria Armyโ€™s Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole had shut down the AAH office in Maiduguri on September 18 and declared the organisation as โ€œpersona non grata.โ€

The military, in a statement released by its Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col Ado Isa, had noted that the AAH was closed for aiding Boko Haram terrorists by supplying them food and drugs despite warnings from the Theatre.

The minister said that the federal government was concerned about counter-terrorism efforts in the country.

She said that all measures must be in place to support the efforts of the government to end terrorism in the northeast.

โ€œThe suspension of the two international Humanitarian organisations โ€“ Mercy Corps and Action Against Hunger is temporarily lifted.

โ€œThe concerns and recommendations of the Board of Inquiry will continue to receive attention and scrutiny to address the issues raised and comply,โ€ she said.
