Following the inability of the Kebbi State Government to pay the N30,000 Minimum Wage, The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kebbi State chapter has directed all workers to begin indefinite strike on Tuesday, March 3rd.
The state Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC),Comrade Umar Alhassan
who briefed newsmen immediately after the Executive Council Meeting yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, have directed all wokers in the state to prepare for strike on March 3rd.
According to comrade Umar Alhassan he said โ we summoned this extra large meeting to inform our members about the situation on ground.
โWe are here together to discuss the ultimatum we gave the kebbi state government on our demands and it will end by Monday, March 2nd by 12: a.m, and there
has not been any positive response from government in respect to our demandsโ.
โWe have directed members to go on and mobilise ahead of our industrial action which is coming up on Tuesday,โ he said.
Alhassan also said although the congress received an invitation for a meeting from government on Wednesday, the invitation will not stop labour from going on with the strike. he added.
Also speaking, the state Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Alhaji Hussaini Yelwa, said all unions under the congress had been mobilised for the strike. There is no going back,he added
