UEFA has imposed sanctions on Marseille following crowd trouble during their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Atalanta at the Stade Vélodrome on November 5.
European football’s governing body announced on Saturday that the French club has been fined €71,000 ($82,500) and ordered to close part of the south stand for their upcoming home fixture against Newcastle on November 25.
The punishment comes after home supporters set off flares, threw projectiles, and used lasers during the match.
In addition, Marseille’s goalkeeping coach Alexandre Salvat received a two-match ban for insulting an official during the same game.
