NIM renews partnership with NYSC

The Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) has restated its determination to intensify efforts on capacity building for NYSC staff and Corps Members.

The President and Chairman of Council, NIM, Major General Abdullahi Iyanda Muraina disclosed this today during the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding with the National Youth Service Corps in Abuja.

He said that the NIM/NYSC partnership which started in 2005 had achieved desired objectives.

He poured encomiums on NYSC Management over its mentorship role for Corps Members and for championing the course of national unity and integration; as well as youth development.

He further disclosed that since inception over 27 years ago, over 300,000 young Nigerians have been inducted into the NIM graduate level.

“I want to assure you that the institute is ready to abide by the MoU to make the programme successful”, the President said.

NYSC Director-General, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim assured that the Scheme would continue to ensure more capacity building training for its staff.

He commended NIM for the training it organised for 75 members of NYSC staff recently.

He added that the training offered Corps Members by the institute has enhanced their employability skills.

Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim was represented during the event by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka, who is also Council member, Nigeria Institute of Management. 

He said that the renewed partnership with the NIM would bring new opportunities to the Corps Members.

“Better days are ahead for both the NYSC and NIM. Because of the strategic nature of the NIM to NYSC operations, we have approved the return of NIM to our Orientation camps”, the DG said, promising that the partnership would continue to deepen in the many years ahead.
