Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has announced an additional donation of ₦15 million to support the completion of a Primary Health Centre in Amafor, Ihuokpala, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. The facility is being developed by the Anglican Diocese of Enugu.
Obi, who visited the project site for the second time on Thursday, said the new contribution builds on the ₦20 million he donated earlier in the year when the centre was still at its foundation stage. He praised the pace and quality of work under the leadership of the Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Rt. Rev. Prof. Samuel Obiajulu Ike, describing his commitment to rural healthcare development as “inspiring.”

He emphasised the critical role faith‑based organisations play in delivering essential services in underserved communities, noting that their deep grassroots presence makes them effective partners in health, education and social welfare. “Supporting these initiatives is not just an act of generosity; it is an essential responsibility,” he said.
Obi also commended public health expert Prof. Benjamin Uzochukwu, who highlighted the importance of private and community‑driven interventions in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system. He argued that the country’s development challenges cannot be solved by government alone, stressing the need for collective action and collaboration.
The former Anambra State governor reaffirmed his commitment to supporting similar projects across the country, saying investment in health, education and poverty alleviation remains central to building “a more productive and inclusive Nigeria.”
