Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Tuesday that his government will attempt to “reactivate” the diplomatic process aimed at ending the war with Russia.
Speaking at a press conference in Madrid alongside Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Zelenskiy stressed the importance of international backing.
“It’s important, as this is going on, to feel constant support behind one’s back,” he said.
Zelenskiy revealed plans to meet Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday to discuss pathways toward what he described as a “just peace” for Ukraine. Turkey previously hosted negotiations between Ukrainian and Russian representatives in 2022 and earlier this year, though those efforts failed to halt the conflict.
“I think that (meeting with Erdogan) will be enough for a substantive discussion,” Zelenskiy noted.
The Ukrainian leader also hinted at new input from Washington, saying his government had received “positions and signals from the U.S.,” but declined to provide details.
The renewed diplomatic push comes as Ukraine continues to face intense fighting on multiple fronts, with Kyiv seeking stronger international support to balance military resistance with political solutions.
