Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed solidarity with Senator Chris Ngige following the violent attack on his convoy, which left one woman dead and a police orderly injured.
Obi, who was overseas when the incident occurred, said he visited Ngige in Alor upon his return to Nigeria to personally sympathize with him and to thank God for his safety.
“The attack, which tragically claimed the life of an innocent woman and left a police orderly injured, is both painful and unacceptable,” Obi stated. He described the incident as another reminder of the “needless and avoidable bloodshed” that continues to plague the country.
The former governor of Anambra emphasized the urgent need for coordinated and effective security measures across all levels of government, stressing that citizens must also play an active role in reversing the rising tide of insecurity.
“No Nigerian should live in fear, and no one should lose their life in such senseless circumstances,” he said, extending his condolences to the family of the deceased woman.
Obi reiterated his commitment to building a Nigeria where the sanctity of human life is upheld and where citizens can move freely and safely without fear of violence.
