David was described as a man after God’s own heart not because of any other thing but for the fact of thanksgiving. In his book of Psalms he said, “Let us come before him(God) with Thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great king above all gods” (Psalm 95:2-3).
It is on this biblical injunction that Gov. Hope Uzodimma has decided to mark his one year in office with an interdenominational service with the Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo as the guest of honour. This singular act alone has espoused the person of Gov. Hope Uzodimma as not just a true christian but a doer of God’s words. It is not out of place for the Governor to declare a funfare to mark his one year in office but giving to the circumstance that brought him to power was just the hand of God upon him and should return all glory to him as the scriptures enjoined in 1Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”.
Again, Gov. Hope Uzodimma has shown his clear understanding of the scriptures by this wonderful initiative to thank God in all ramifications and lift the state before the throne of grace of God. This thanksgiving is no doubt for political reasons alone but for the Peace we enjoy as a state, the security, the economy of the state, the good governance, the infrastructure and human development, the recovery of our looted commonwealth amongst many other things. Even in the bible, David thanked God for relentless trials, Hezekiah thanked God for revival, Jonah thanked God in repugnance, Daniel thanked God for revelation, Ezra thanked God for reestablishment, Anna thanked God for the redeemer, The Samaritan leper thanked God for restoration, Paul thanked God for the people and these are not different from what Gov. Hope Uzodimma is thanking God for in the state.
This is a thanksgiving of getting rid of ghost workers and pensioners in the state, payment of salaries and pensions, construction of durable roads all over the state, reviving and establishing industries and modular refineries in the state, empowerment programmes, standard Education, State of the Art Medical facilities and services, overhauling and rebranding of the ITC, recovery of our commonwealth, good governance amongst many other things that are too numerous to mention as they were all achieved just one year in office. It is not by might or political power but by God’s grace alone since we believe that except the Lord builds the city, the labourers labour in vain.
We are most grateful and appreciate God almighty for giving us Gov. Hope Uzodimma and the works he has done and many he is doing in the state since one year and more in office. If Nehemiah sent by God to reconstruct the walls of Jerusalem was faced by the wickedness of Sanballat and Tobiah, who then Gov. Hope Uzodimma? but again our solace and strength is drawn from the victory of Nehemiah at last and the assurance that when the Lord calls, he equips.
To this end, we enjoin all Imolites and christians across different denominations to join Gov. Hope Uzodimma on Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at Dan Anyiam Stadium to appreciate God for thus far and at the same time lift the state before God so that his almighty hands will continually be on the state as well as to direct Gov. Hope Uzodimma throughout his stay in office.
Once again we say Congratulations to Gov. Hope Uzodimma as truly Imo is in the hands of God.
