Residents of Imo State as well as visitors will agree to the fact that since 2011-2019 the deplorable states of our roads is nothing to be pleased with especially its constant adverse effects on the socio-economic activities of Imolites.
You may recall that past administrations in the State hitherto, have been giving excuses for their abysmal failure on the construction of roads in the State and at one point declared that an “acidic rain” is washing away the tarred roads. This is just but one out of their several comical conspiracies to buy time.
On assumption of office, Gov. Hope Uzodimma swiftly set in motion the cardinal points of his administration known as the 3R mantra viz-a-viz Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery.
The Governor took a swipe on the state of our roads and hence, moved to actualize the Reconstruction mantra of the Administration.
It is on record that Gov. Hope Uzodimma inherited over 20 road contracts that was on paper and immediately saw to the coming on site of the contractors with a firm resolve to deliver a quality road network to the people of Imo State.
It didn’t just end at that, the Shared Prosperity Administrator was moved to enlist, and award over 18 more roads his predecessor without any cogent reason had abandoned. A feat which no other Government can boast of.
Today, Gov. Hope Uzodimma has actualized the Reconstruction mantra and equally fulfilled his desire in making the state of the roads in Imo one of the best in the Eastern Region and the country at large by constructing quality State of the Art roads in the state.
There is gain saying that 90% of the roads have been completed and commissioned by the Governor while 10% of the rest are near completion.
The story of the New Face of our roads will not be completed without mentioning those worst hit areas of bad roads that was then a death trap but today Shared Prosperity Government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma have massively delivered and they are:
1. Douglas Road Owerri
2. Assumpta-Owerri/Port Harcourt road/ibari ogwa(4.5 dual carriage way)
3. Dick Tiger Road
4. Lake Nwaebere-Aladinma Ring road
5. Archdeacon Dennis Road
6. Aladinma Ring Road
All these roads and many more have been completed, commissioned and are now in use by both motorists and commuters.
Indeed we cannot talk of quality roads in Imo State without showing our gratitude to Gov. Hope Uzodimma who has given a facelift to our deplorable roads to a first class standard roads in Imo State.
We therefore encourage Imolites not to give in to the antics of the opposition that is aimed at robbing them the Shared Prosperities of this Government and to continually stand with Gov. Hope Uzodimma: A man that is poised to changing the narratives in the state of our roads and every sector in the state.
