The Obasogo family of Ilogbo-Ota, Ogun State has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu over the arrest of three of their sons by men of the Ota Area Command for suspected land grabbing-related offense.
In the petition signed by the head of the family who is also the Baale of Ejigbo-Tuntun, High Chief Kamil Akingbade, the family alleged that the men arrested; Rufai Abdulkareem, Tobi Ajayi and Wasiu Oladipupo are bonafide members of Obasogo Royal family and not land grabbers as they are being painted by the police.
The family further alleged that the real land grabbers are: Owolabi , Nuru, and Yemi who had encroached on the expanse of land belonging to the royal family based on a purported judgment, they got over an eight-acre boundary land in their suit against one Osobija family, claiming that they are Edumeri family. The petitioners also alleged that it was these land grabbers who connived with the police who arrested and set-up their sons with guns.
They further explained that when their โโsons were arrested, they were arraigned before Ota Magistrateโs Court and granted bail, but as the bail could not be perfected same day, they were returned to police custody; only for them to be paraded with guns, which they never knew their source.โโ
The Obasogo Royal Family said their land in Ilogbo-Ota is over 4,000 acres effectively managed by a licensed property agent, DeJoseph Multipurpose International Limited which the land grabbers are threatening to surrender.
The family claimed they are in possession of the voice recording of a policeman at the Ota Area Command who confessed that he set the men up on โorder from superior officers.โ
