Senator Solomon Adeola has lamented the recurrence of pipeline explosions in his senatorial district without relevant agencies doing anything proactively to curb the menace.

Adeola, who represents Lagos West Senatorial District, in a statement by his media aide, Kayode Odunaro in Abuja, commiserated with constituents who suffered huge losses in the unfortunate incident.

He also condoled with families of those that lost their lives in yet another pipeline explosion at Ile Epo and Oke-Odo in Abule Egba axis of Alimosho Local Government.

He recalled that he moved a motion last year on the floor of the Senate, which led to Senate resolution and consequent visit by a Senate Ad Hoc Committee to the site of one of such explosions.

He added it was regrettable that another explosion has occurred in less than a year in the same area while the report of the Committee is before the Senate for consideration and action.

The Senator he was pained at the magnitude of the fire and apprehension of constituents.

He condemned the economic saboteurs that engaged in oil bunkering through vandalisation of oil pipelines to steal petroleum products.

He noted that their criminal activities have resulted in major losses for fellow citizens living their peaceful lives in legitimate endeavours.

โ€œI want to again commend the emergency services of the Lagos State and Federal Government for their efforts in always rising to the occasion in curtailing the magnitude of the destruction that would have resulted from these explosions.

โ€œWithout their efforts, it is possible that many lives would have been lost beyond the reported cases of about two or three persons.

โ€œThe NNPC and related agencies should also look for a lasting solution to monitor, detect and prevent these explosions,โ€ he said.

Adeola called on the security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NCDSC) to intensify measures to prevent vandals engaged in the nefarious activities that resulted in the fire incident.

He called on the National Emergency Management Agency and its state counterpart to provide palliative measures to those affected to cushion their losses.
