The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has airlifted back to the Country no fewer than 135 Nigerians who took refuge in neighbouring Cameroon.

The returnees were airlifted on Thursday, 22 August 2019, by a NAF C-130H aircraft from the Maroua Salak International Airport in Cameroon’s Northern Region to Yola International Airport, in furtherance of the NAF’s constitutional role of providing Military Aid to Civil Authority.

The NAF also provided airlift for Nigeria’s Technical Working Group (TWG) for the “Repatriation of Nigerian Refugees in Cameroon” led by the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, who oversaw the commencement of the return process.

The NAF aircrew, alongside the TWG, received the refugees from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and Cameroonian Government Officials.
