Murdered Nigerian student, Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale, 33, will be buried on August 20. He will be buried at the Christian cemetery, opposite Piyabella hotel in Girne, Northern Cyprus.

Owoyale went missing on July 1, 2019 and was later found dead in the trunk of his car wrapped with blanket. The car was parked in the area known as the Nicosia schools road on July 8, 2019.

In an apartment raid by Northern Cyprus police, on July 11, several people were detained in connection with the murder. Statements were taken from 38 people during the three days detention period.

After several trials, ten people were released after police find them not connected to the crime.

The crime scene investigation teams during the apartment raid found that there were blood stains on the walls and on the carpet.

The blood sample was sent to the Ankara Criminal Police Laboratory. The laboratory test showed that the blood on the crime scene matched that of Owoyale.

According to police report, Owoyale, a Cyprus International University PhD student died as a result of “cutting/crushing injuries, multiple fractures of the head bones and brain tissues”.

According to Police Inspector Assistant Feyyaz ฤฐneci, Owoyale was murdered because of 36 thousand 241 euros which was withdrawn from his account.

The Nicosia accident court Judge Cenkay, on August 2, sentenced the prime suspect to three months in prison before trial will begin.

The prime suspect lawyer demanded that his client be released because he had no ties to the incident.

The suspect claimed that he did not know the murdered person and did not know the name of his roommate who he claimed was the actual suspect.

The defendant’s lawyer said his client roommate was only three-month-old on the Island and fled to Nigeria after the crime was committed in their room.
