The Niger State Police Command, in collaboration with members of the state Vigilante Corps, have arrested three suspected cattle rustlers and recovered 528 animals from them.
The suspects were said to be part of a gang terrorising residents of Sahonrami-Kwana Magajiya, Makera Road, in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, Hassan Abdulrazaq, 30; Tukur Abdulrazaq, 20; and Lawale Rilwanu, 20, all of the same address, were arrested for robbing one Musa Abdullahi of Sahonrami in Mashegu.
It was learnt that the suspects, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked the house of their victim and allegedly made away with his N4,500 and 10 packs of cigarettes.
It was gathered that the suspects were also found in possession of 230 cows, 295 sheep and three donkeys, which they could not account for.
One of the suspects, Hassan, told newsmen that he and his colleagues had been involved in criminal activities for some time.
โAs soon as we received information about Abdullahi, we moved to his house and dispossessed him of his money and 10 packs of cigarettes,โ he stated.
The commandโs Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident, saying the suspects named one Abubakar Abdulrazaq, who is still at large, as one of their accomplices.
Abubakar said the operatives recovered the animals and other exhibits from the suspects, adding that the men would appear in court as soon as police investigation was completed.
