A 27-year old man has been arrested by the police for allegedly selling his 3-day old baby boy in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State.
The suspect, Chukwuma Enemuo was said to have sold the baby at the sum of N150,000 after lying to his wife that the baby died after delivery.
It was gathered that the suspect conspired with one Obi Chidubem to sell the baby said to be the first issue of the parents.
The baby was reportedly sold to one Mrs Anulika Okafor, a native of Uruokwe village, Ozubulu.
The police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said the three suspects have been arrested while the baby has been recovered.
He said, โAt about 7:pm, Police detectives attached to Ozubulu division arrested one Chukwuma Enemuo โmโ 27 years of Okwutu Amawka village, Ozubulu in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State.
โSuspect conspired with one Obi Chidubem โmโ aged 45 years of Umuabuche Eziama village uli in Ihiala LGA and sold his three days old baby boy at the sum of #150,000 to one Mrs Anulika Okafor โfโ aged 39 years of Uruokwe village, Ozubulu.
โThe suspect lied to his wife one Mrs Oluchi Enemuo โfโ aged 20 years of Okwutu Amakwa by telling her that the baby is dead shortly after delivery.โ
He said the case was under investigation after which suspects would be charged to court.
