It was learnt on Sunday that Okloho was killed on Saturday by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
He was said to have called and attended a meeting to intimate members of his party of the shift in the presidential and National Assembly polls.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, said the deceased was attacked while he was returning to his home after the meeting.
The source said, โWhat we leant was that Okloho had in the early hours of Saturday held a meeting with the party stakeholders to intimate them of the shift in the Presidential and National Assembly elections. But on his way home, he was shot and killed.โ
The Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State Command, Mr Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident.
He said the police had commenced full-scale investigation to unravel those behind the crime.
Meanwhile, the APC governorship candidate in Benue State, Emmanuel Jime, has condemned Oklohoโs assassination.
Jime, in a statement, expressed sorrow over the gruesome murder of the late party chieftain and sued for peace and brotherliness in the politics of the state.
He also called on the Benue State Government and security agencies to fish out the killers of Okloho, adding that the perpetrators must be brought to justice in order to serve as a deterrent to others, who might want to engage in politics of violence.
Jime stated, โI condemn in very strong terms this unnecessary politics of violence and bloodshed that has claimed the life of Okloho, our beloved brother and staunch member of our great party in Ohimini.
โOkloho was one of the very committed leaders of our party in Zone C and we regret that he lost his life in such a horrible circumstance in the service of his state and his party. May his gentle soul rest in peace.โ
