Gunmen on Tuesday attacked Maro Village in Kajuru Local Government Area and part of Kachia Village, in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In the renewed attack on the village, many houses and a Police patrol van were said to have been razed.

The village came under attack two weeks ago where several people lost their lives.

A source said that bandits in hundreds invaded that community with dangerous weapons.

It was also gathered that as a result of the attack, many villagers had fled the place, adding that, โ€œEven the Police patrol van that came into the village was burnt.โ€

โ€œMany residents had fled into the bush. The bandits came in their hundreds,โ€ he added.

As of the time of filing this report, our correspondents could not ascertain the casualty figures in the renewed attack.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Yakubu Sabo, said he would get back to our correspondent for details on the attack.

But Govenor Nasir el-Rufai has condemned the attack on the areas, saying he was saddened by the news of the renewed attack.

The governor called on the communities to support efforts to restore calm on the areas.

A government statement by the governorโ€™s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, said: โ€œThe Kaduna State Government has, today, received the sad news of renewed attacks in Kajuru and Kachia local government areas.

โ€œThe government condemns this recourse to violence, and calls on all communities to support the efforts to restore calm in the area.

โ€œToday, the Kaduna State Government was briefed by security agencies of renewed attacks in Kajuru local government area, and in parts of neighboring Kachia LGA.

โ€œThe Kaduna State Government has been assured that the security agencies are working assiduously to contain the situation.

โ€œThe Government is saddened by these attacks, condemns the perpetrators and urges all residents of the area to support the security agencies in their efforts to protect communities.โ€
