FCT police parade 34 suspected kidnappers, car snatchers, armed robbers

The FCT Police Command on Monday paraded 34 suspects for their alleged involvement in kidnapping, armed robbery car snatching, phone snatching and cultists.


Items recovered from some of the suspects include; five vehicles, five firearms, one toy gun, four phones, three master keys, one cutlass, one camera and one knife.

Three of the suspects; Henry Chinedu Ikoro, Joseph Raphael and Friday Moses were arrested for conniving to kidnap two of their colleagues.

The suspects according to the Police had the intention of extorting money from their victims.

To also make the kidnap look real, the suspects arranged that the principal suspects; Henry Chinedu Ikoro should also be kidnapped.

On how they carried out the kidnap, the new FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Ciroma said: โ€œPolice Operatives attached to the Command Special Anti-Kidnaping Squad (SAKS) following a discreet investigation arrested the suspects for conspiring to kidnap Nnamdi Adimoha and Emeka Emmanuel both staff of Day Spa.

โ€œThe victims were held hostage for five days before they were rescued from the Karimo apartment of Joseph Raphael where they were kept.

โ€œThe principal suspect, Henry Chinedu Ikoro who happens to be a receptionist at Day Spa master minded the operation with the intention of extorting some money from their employer.


โ€œTo allay any suspicion, the suspects arranged for the principal suspect to be arrested with the two victims. The suspects demanded the sum of $150,000 for the release of the victims.โ€

The CP said efforts are being intensified to arrest three other fleeing suspects who are in possession of the firearm and car used for the operation.

On his part, Ikoro said he arranged the kidnap so as to get money to further his education abroad.

He said: โ€œMy elder cousin involved me and we had to connive with some of our colleagues. I had to involve another colleague who knows Abuja better than me.

โ€œHe told me how we could go about the kidnap and I carried out the kidnap so as to get money to further my education abroad.

โ€œI was hoping to make about N2million and then add it up with my savings so that I can further my education in business management outside the country.โ€

Another set of suspects; Friday Inuwa and Sunday Dirioha were paraded for stealing a car.

One of the suspects, Friday Inuwa after selling his masterโ€™s car went to the Police to report that the car was stolen.

The look of the car; Lexus GX470 Jeep which was black was also changed to white colour.

On how they were arrested, Ciroma said: โ€œOn 28/7/2018  at about 3:30pm, Police Operatives arrested one Friday Inuwa, a driver for conspiring with Sunday Dirioha to sell a Lexus GX470 Jeep belonging to his master who travelled out of the country.


โ€œThe principal suspects who was directed by his employer to park the car at a hotel sold the car for N500,000 to the Dirioha who immediately changed the original colour of the car from black to white.โ€

On his part,  Inuwa said he sold the car to pay up his debt be

โ€œI borrowed money from Sunday to pay my childrenโ€™s schools fees. I decided to use the car to pay for my debt without my masterโ€™s permission and to cover up my trail; I decided to report to the Police that the car was stolen.โ€

The Police urged members of the public to carry out thorough background checks before employing people as domestic servants.

Other suspects paraded include; Israel Akpan,  Godwin Onah, Ezugwu Valentine,  Oste Armstrong Ajibo, Albarka Habila, Mohammed Tahiru, Bala Ezekiel, John Yusuf, Innocent John, Stanley John, Gambo Nana.

Others are: โ€œBussey Essien, Stanley Ostege, Kelvin James, Evans Eseoghene Suleiman Musa, Nnaemeka Nwafor, Jeremiah Uche, Abioze Samuel Cole, Agbole Ahmed,  Chidi Dominic, Obesi Uche Nnamdi and Bamidele Loius.
