The Nigeria Police Commission (PSC) will on Monday begin screening 133,324 applicants shortlisted for the 6,000 police job, its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, said yesterday.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the commission said Kaduna State has the highest number of applicants, followed by Katsina.

Lagos, the statement added, has the least number of applicants.

It reads: โ€œThe recruitment of 6,000 Nigerians into the Nigeria Police Force as constables will commence on Monday, May 7 in the 36 State Police Command Headquarters and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

โ€œThe exercise will start with screening of the applicantโ€™s physical attributes and their credentials.

โ€œAlready invitations have been sent to the applicants, who are expected to report at the screening venues on days indicated in their invitations.

โ€œA total of 133,324 applicants are expected to be screened during the exercise. Kaduna State has the highest number of applicants with a total of 6,962, while Lagos has the least with a total of 1,013. Katsina with a total of 6,676 has the second highest applicants followed by Benue and Niger with 6474 and 6409 respectively.

โ€œBayelsa has the second least of 1,097 applicants followed by Anambra that has 1,117 and Ebonyi with 1,303.โ€

The commission said it had deployed its officials in the 36 states and the FCT with its Chairman, Mike Okiro, as the national coordinator.

Warning its staff to shun any act capable of compromising the national assignment, the commission said any one found wanting would be duly sanctioned.

โ€œAll staff must resist all forms of undue influences as their activities would be closely monitored,โ€ the statement said.

It also warned applicants to conduct themselves properly, adding that anybody that has nothing to do with the exercise should not be found within the vicinity of the screening.
