Over 67,763 persons are currently on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) treatment care in Lagos State, Commissioner for Health, Jide Idris, said yesterday.
The figure, he said, increased from 64, 000 recorded in June last year.
At the on-going briefing by ministries to mark Governor Akinwunmi Ambodeโs third anniversary, Idris said the stateโs Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis programmes have been very effective.
According to him, 64,000 doses of oral anti-malarial and 10,000 doses of injectable Artesunate were procured and distributed across the state.
โOf the 67,763 HIV positive persons, 1,989 were on treatment in three Global Fund (GF) supported LGAs (Ikorodu, Oshodi-Isolo and Epe) as at December 2017. The achievement has earned the State GF-supported HIV Control program an extension period of implementation of 18 months,โ he said.
