A man killed his sick wife outside an assisted living facility and then called police to confess to the murder, according to police in Florida.
Boynton Beach police said that they have arrested Stephen Kruspe, 62, after being accused of fatally shooting his wife, Pamela, 61.
He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, and he is being held without bail. A judge prohibited Kruspe from contacting any family member, including his wife’s relatives.
Kruspe has been charged with premeditated homicide for shooting his wife outside the Parkside Inn Assisted Living Facility.
Pamela was found behind the Parkside Inn Assisted Living Facility around 7:30 p.m.
According to the criminal complaint, Kruspe told police that he and his wife have been married for 42 years, and they loved each other.
Pamela was suffering from dementia, and she went to live at the assisted living facility. Recently, Pamela urged her husband to kill her because she did not want to live with her disease.
Kruspe thought over his wife’s request, and shot her dead outside the assisted living facility. Kruspe told police that after shooting his wife, she hugged him and passed out with a smile on her face.
He said that he is willing to pay the price because he made his wife happy and ended her pain. Some people are coming out to support the killing.
Wendy Flemming Herzog said: “He was fulfilling his wife’s wishes. How sad that this country allows such suffering. That was a wonderful thing he did for his wife Pamela.”
Colleen McNulty said: “Hopefully, she is now out of pain and finally at peace. Dementia is such a tragic disease. Not knowing all of the story, I’m sure it was tragic to have to do that for him, but from what it RIP.”
Kruspe was named teacher of the year in 1996 at the Deerfield Beach High School. The coupe had three children together.
