Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has given the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, a 7- day ultimatum within which to confirm or debunk the whistle recently blown that his administration left office, leaving the state with monumental debt burden.

The PDP gave this ultimatum on Sunday in a release issued by its publicity secretary, Mr Taofik Gani, saying, Fashola, who is the immediate past governor of the state, must do this to discharge his responsibility to Lagosians.

“He may also go further too also let us know how much debt he also inherited if any,” the party said.

The PDP also tasked the Lagos State House of Assembly to “also debate this disclosure in the interest of tax paying Lagosians,” calling on the Assembly to immediately constitute a committee to look into the disclosure and at the same time demand that Governor Ambode should furnish it with facts and figures to confirm or debunk the allegation.

According to PDP, Governor Ambode must make a declaration of the debt burden he inherited from the past administration, saying it was making the request following the disclosure by the Leader of APC and former governor of the state, Bola Tinubu, which Ambode inherited debt burden but yet was able to carry out developmental projects.

“Whilst we shall look into and demand the actual report of service of Governor Ambode, it is expedient at this time to voice out on behalf of Lagosians that the immediate past governor, Fashola, must answer to this indictment of his administration.

“The silence of Fashola since this assertion by the leader of APC has indeed also vindicated us, as we had persistently maintained that Fashola’s government was extortionate and propagandists. That in spite of realising average of N23billion monthly IGR, local and foreign loans, domestic and international donations, his assumed achievements in security, beatification, schools renovated, roads, etc were actually the making of individuals, cooperate bodies, Federal government, concessionaires and international organisations,” the party said.
