Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Monday inaugurated 54 new senior special assistants and special assistants, including ace actress, Mercy Johnson Okojie, with a pledge to retrieve all the stolen money of the state.
Speaking at the inauguration held in Lokoja, the state capital, the governor reiterated the determination of his administration to go after those who stole the common wealth of the people in the past years and ensure that itโs recovered and given back to them.
The governor noted that some government appointees were fond of looting and diverting fund meant for the development to erect filling Stations, Hotels and Housing Estates at the expenses of the people.
He therefore urged the appointees not to see the offer as an opportunity to enrich themselves.
โWe must go after them to recover the looted fund for use of the common people in the state.โ he stated.
He charged the new appointees to embark on selfless services as well as make sacrifices for the betterment of the people who elected the government, stressing that anyone who is not ready to serve will be shown his way out.
Johnson-Okojie, who was appointed SSA entertainment, commended the governor for being gender sensitive in his appointments, noting that the people of the state had been united through the people oriented policies and programmes.
