We’re not recruiting, beware of scammers, Chevron warns

Following the circulation of false recruitment posts by unscrupulous persons and organizations, Chevron Nigeria Ltd (CNL) has warned the Nigerian public to beware, saying it is not recruiting nor placing job adverts on any media channel.

General Manager, Policy, Government & Public Affairs of the company, Mr Esimaje Brikinn, alerted the public in a statement he signed and made available to journalists at the weekend.

He said, “CNL decries the circulation of false recruitment information dissociates itself from “Chevron Oil and Gas” Lagos, March 24,  2017: Chevron Nigeria Limited, operator of the NNPC/ Chevron Nigeria Limited Joint Venture, is aware of the circulation of false recruitment information posted by unscrupulous persons or organizations in the name of Chevron Nigeria Limited or “Chevron Oil and Gas” in several media and online channels, advertising job positions in Chevron Nigeria Limited or “Chevron Oil and Gas.”

He added that “fraudulent job offers have reportedly been sent through emails, text messages and phone calls by individuals purporting to be staff or representatives of Chevron Nigeria Limited with the intent to defraud their victims.

Chevron Nigeria Limited hereby dissociates itself from such false job recruitment information, and offers of employment contracts published in any newspaper, website, email, poster, handbill or any other medium. Chevron Nigeria Limited did not make or authorize any such publication.”

According to him, “Members of the general public are hereby notified that Chevron Nigeria Limited does not, and will not require applicants to make payment towards processing any job application. Recruitment advertisements requesting candidates to pay money, at any point during the recruitment process, are not from CNL.”

Mr Brikinn further reiterated that CNL neither “solicit job applications or initiate recruitment processes through emails, posters, handbills, text messages, social media or phone calls,” adding that the oil multinational has no affiliate company called “Chevron Oil and Gas” in Nigeria.

He advised job seekers to always check the company’s website at: http:/www.careers.chevron.com and the national newspapers for job advertisements from CNL, warning that the company will not respond to enquiries about fraudulent advertisements and job offers.
