Police were called to a scene of a disturbance after a woman claimed that her Uber driver smacked her face and made racist comments about her child, according to police in the United Kingdom.
London police said that they were called by Annastazia Merrett, who claimed that the Uber driver assaulted her and called her a white b***h after she was dropped off at Elephant and Castle.
She also claimed that he called her daughter’s father a black slave. The Uber driver strongly denied the accusations, and said that the woman assaulted him.
Police let the driver go as they failed to get enough evidence to make an arrest. Uber said in statement that the driver was suspended, pending the outcome of their investigation.
Merrett shared her horrifying story on Facebook.
โMe and my baby were attacked on Saturday. Myself and Savannah have both been physically attacked by the driver over him refusing to help me carry something heavy to my house and me disputing as to why not.
โI dropped my house keys and he threw them at my 2-year-old daughterโs face before punching me, trying to continue to hit me and force me back into his car, leaving my daughter terrified on the pavement.
โHe seemed very abrupt from the start of the journey, telling me not to bother with my car seat and to hurry up. My daughter was crying in the car, and I was told that if she will not quiet down, she would be physically removed and left stranded.
โWhen arriving, I had no choice but to ask for help, and was told to carry it all and if I drop her then good. He was angered by the fact that I as woman and asked him for help,โ Merrett wrote on Facebook.
She claimed that the driver told her โyou don’t ask for help from a man as a woman you have no right, I tell you what I want and you must do.โ
Merrett revealed that the Uber driver shouted that he is not a slave and that is my daughterโs dad role. Merrett admitted to hitting him once while trying to protect her daughter from further attack as he progressed towards her.
Merrett said that she was left with a black eye as a result of the attack.
