A young mother was left traumatized after the birth of her first child as she was born with deformities.
25-year-old Priyanka Kumari of India, held her baby and she is tending to the baby’s needs at a Kumari said that her baby, who has not been named, was born looking like an “alien.”
The baby girl was born with Harlequin Ichthyosis, which causes thickening of the skin and deformities. Kumari showed off her baby, who has a growth on her head. She is covered in a hardened skin and has bulging eyes.
People in the Chakiya neighborhood began visiting the baby and they offer prayers as many believe she could be an incarnation of a Hindu god.
Kumari and her husband Balindra Mahto, 34, were both shocked by the child’s deformities and are having a hard time coping with the situation.
“God could have given you a healthy baby, but everything is for the good, I am praying for your healthy future,” Mahto said.
Dr. Rajan Sinha, who is caring for the baby, said that the baby’s chance of survival is one in 10 million.
