The 44-year-old actress was removed from a flight in June this year after a bizarre outburst, which she later claimed was caused by mixing her medication with alcohol, but she insists she has โrecoveredโ now.
She told People magazine: โIt was embarrassing. I can only say that sometimes you just have a moment that you wish you didnโt have. And you do whatever you can to rise above that and get through it and be a better person.
โIโm looking forward to how everyone can come together and make this world better and really see the things that make people struggle, and empathy, and helping people, and that we will all have a better 2017 than 2016. Iโm ready to put it behind me.โ
Meanwhile, the โCruel Intentionsโ star previously claimed it was a โpsychotic blackoutโ that caused her to have her outburst.
She said: โI am someone who should never drink, and I rarely do, and I donโt drink anymore, but I was going through something. I had a glass of wine and someone gave me a pill that I thought was something that Iโd taken before โฆ it was something completely different โฆ and I had a total psychotic blackout.
โI had empathy for myself because it was so out of character for me especially now that Iโm a mother. I was taken to a clinic to get an IV and get an assessment โฆ my son was with his father and he had slept through it โฆ I knew he was going to sleep so thatโs why I took this pill โฆ [but] bad choice all around โ I totally own it.โ
During the incident, which took place on a flight from Mexico to Los Angeles, Selma allegedly screamed, โHe burns my private parts. He wonโt let me eat or drink โฆ Heโs going to kill meโ in front of other passengers on the plane.
