A man who was angry that his stepmother was celebrating the winning Dallas Cowboys football team, killed her, according to police in Texas.
Austin police said that they have arrested 20-year-old Pontrey O’Neal Jones, after being accused if using a knife to stab Magdalena Ruiz.
Jones has been charged with one count of murder. He was booked into jail, and his bail has been set at $500,000.
According to the police investigation, on Sunday around 10:30 p.m., Ruiz was watching the football game of the Dallas Cowboys against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at her home located on the 2700 block of South Congress Avenue.
When Jones entered the home, he saw his stepmother rejoicing the win of the Dallas Cowboys. Jones first planned to kill his sister, but changed his mind and stabbed his stepmother multiple times.
Jonesโ father, Pontrey Simon, who was home at the time, stopped the attack. Jones fled from the scene before police arrived.
Officers found Jones lying naked in the grass of a nearby home.
Ruiz was rushed to the South Austin Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
