A woman was arrested despite blaming her mother for the drugs in her handbag.
The young woman of Florida, was a passenger in a Volkswagen Jetta that was pulled over by police at about 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Sumter County sheriffโs officer stopped the car because it had a tinted windshield.
A police drug sniffing dog alerted the officers to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Police searched the vehicle and they found heroin inside a Victoriaโs Secret purse.
They questioned the passenger, 20-year-old Lorissa Ann Webb of Oxford, and she claimed that the bag belonged to her mother.
Officers found $565 in cash and a Coach wallet, which contained a straw and a plastic bag with heroin inside.
โThe purse is not mine, it belongs to my mom and she has a bad drug habit,โ Webb told a deputy, according to the police report.
However, the driver said that the wallet did belong to Webb, who was arrested on charges of drug possession and of possession of drug equipment.
She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $6,000 bond.
