Amber Rose hoped her annual SlutWalk would provide a safe, all-inclusive space for attendees but that idea was crushed by a group of protesters denouncing everything the event stands for.
Rose hosted the Saturday afternoon event in Los Angeles’ Pershing Square to protest the idea that how women look or dress plays a role in their susceptibility to sexual assault.
But the real protest came from a group of Christian picketers, wearing shirts emblazoned with “God hates U just the way U are” and carrying signs reading “Repent or Perish.”
Demonstrators shouted at the thousands of scantily-clad marchers, who were in attendance to stand up for gender equality and raise awareness about sexual injustice.
The religious demonstrators are also heard on video shouting “you don’t respect your own self coming out in public dressing naked.”
“You’re a fool in the eyes of God,” one man says over a loudspeaker in a video obtained by ABC News.
The attendees at the “SlutWalk” didn’t seem to take the messages to heart as one woman began twerking in response. Others came closer to the protesters showing off their next-to-nothing attire.
Many of the SlutWalk marchers were seen holding signs such as “Don’t tell me to cover up.”
“The idea that there is some aesthetic that attracts sexual assault or even keeps you safe from sexual assault is inaccurate, ineffective and even dangerous,” Rose wrote of her motivation for organizing the event.
“No more sexual violence, no more victim blaming, no more derogatory labels and no more gender inequality,” the 32-year-old continued.

The model currently featured on “Dancing with the Stars” first launched her own SlutWalk last October, but the concept began in 2011 after a Toronto police offer suggested “women should avoid dressing like sluts” to avoid being raped.
