A nurse was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing multiple nursing home patients with a lethal dose of drugs, according to police in Canada.
Ontario police said that they have arrested Elizabeth Tracy Mae Wettlaufer, after being accused of killing at least eight elderly people over the course of seven years.
Wettlaufer was charged with eight counts of first-degree murder.
According to the police investigation, Wettlaufer worked as a nurse for the Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Homes, which operates six facilities.
She became a registered nurse 20 years ago. Neighbors said that Wettlaufer lived alone with her dog.
The victims were identified as James Silcox, 84, Maurice Granat, 84, Gladys Millard, 87, Helen Matheson, 95, Mary Zurawinski, 96, Helen Young, 90, Maureen Pickering, 79, and Arpad Horvath, 75.
