Mariah Carey was waiting to be ex-fiance James Packer’s “Dreamlover” until marriage because the songstress claims she has a strict rule against premarital sex.
Sources close to Carey shut down rumors that Packer dumped the singer because she was fooling around with backup dancer Bryan Tanaka saying she never goes to bed with men before getting hitched because she is a “traditional girl,” according to TMZ reports.
Even though the “Fantasy” singer and the Australian billionaire lived together, they stayed in separate rooms in their shared home and while jet setting together, sources told TMZ.
Carey also enforced the rule with ex-husband and father to her twins, singer Nick Cannon, who waited until the night of their Bahamas honeymoon to consummate their relationship.
Carey and Packer’s year-and-a half relationship imploded earlier this week after the two quarreled in September while on board the mogul’s yacht in Greece. The 49-year-old business magnate reportedly dumped Carey because of her โextravagant spendingโ habits and over rumors she was hooking up with Tanaka.
The songstress denied the cheating allegations while also demanding that Packer pay up $50 million claiming their dramatic falling out harmed her career.
Carey says she made career-costing sacrifices for Packer, including that she uprooted from New York City to Los Angeles so that he could be near his children, TMZ reported.
The songstress also claims she was forced to cancel the South American leg of her world tour because she was so traumatized by a fight on the luxury liner that led to their break-up.
The $50 million demand comes after reports that Packer let Carey keep a $10 million engagement ring given to her after they got engaged in January of this year.
Carey was spotted at Malibuโs celebrity sushi haven, Nobu, on Thursday night with a skin-baring outfit and the gargantuan diamond rock still on her finger. She was accompanied by rumored fling Tanaka, according to photos on TMZ.
Careyโs upcoming E! reality show, โMariahโs World,โ is expecting to air on Dec. 4 and her split with the business mogul reportedly sent executives in a tailspin earlier this week.
The main focus for the show is Careyโs career, but a subplot chronicleโs the former coupleโs wedding plans.
