Demi Lovato thinks Taylor Swift’s doing more harm than good for the feminist cause and that the “Shake It Off” crooner should employ some fuller physiques in her squad of supermodel sidekicks.
“This will probably get me in trouble, but I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body,” Lovato told Glamour.
“It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real. It’s not realistic.”
The outspoken “Confident” singer feels the likes of Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Ellie Goulding misrepresent the natural female form and it’s Swift’s responsibility to empower her female fans and promote realistic body types.
Lovato also went on to slam the singer for going after Katy Perry in her song “Bad Blood.”
“I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment.”
This isn’t the first time the 24-year-old’s gone after the “Blank Space” singer in February, Lovato unleashed a stream of insults criticizing the star for donating $250,000 towards Kesha’s legal fees yet keeping mum on the topic of rape.
“Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I’ll be impressed,” she tweeted moments after Swift announced the generous donation, adding that “not everyone has 250k to give to people” and that it would be more useful to “start a dialogue about women being raped than throw money at one person.”
“At least I speak up about s— that’s uncomfortable to talk about rather than trying to be politically correct 24/7.”
Lovato later backtracked on the comments without mentioning their intended target.
“Everyone has their own way of giving support to others, and at the end of the day, helping victims is all that matters,” she said.
