Turkish artillery units fired a total of 1,125 shots at 262 targets in nine days over the course of the Euphrates Shield operation in the Jarablus region of Syria, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has announced.

The military said four targets were destroyed during air operations near Jarablus while another 15 were shelled 99 times by artillery units on Sept. 1.

It added the Zavgar, Al Agbar and Kulliyah villages were also cleared of โ€œterrorist elements.โ€

The military said it also provided around 47 air support attacks on a total of 38 targets during the operation.

According to the military, a total of 213 hand-made explosives had also been detonated since the beginning of the operation.

The operation, which was launched in cooperation with the U.S.-led coalition on Aug. 24, saw the Turkish military back the Free Syrian Army (FSA) with artillery, tanks, air power and Special Forces in a bid to sweep its borders from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) jihadist group and other terrorist elements after a series of attacks targeting the country. Aircrafts from the anti-ISIL coalition also backed the operation.
